Service Description

Service Description:
Ivy House School is a purpose built day community special school for 85 pupils aged 2 to 19 years who experience severe, profound multiple and complex learning difficulties.
Ivy House is a happy, supportive and purposeful environment where pupils are nurtured, praised and acknowledged for who they are in addition to the skills they acquire and the tasks they accomplish.
The school receives many visitors from home and abroad and many make positive comments about the friendly, happy and focussed atmosphere.
Our pupils like to come to school. They are justifiably proud of what they achieve and enjoy celebrating not only their own successes but also the successes of class mates and other peers across the age range.
We have a highly motivated, professional and well trained team of staff who work collaboratively with parents, carers and other professionals to ensure that all aspects of what we offer meet the individual needs of all our pupils.
Ivy House embraces “Every Child Matters”, crucial to this is the nurture and development of the Whole Child. We strive to encourage the development of communication skills, physical skills, inter-personal skills, independence skills and creative skills in addition to the more formal intellectual skills one expects to see taught in any school.
We hope to provide each child with a wider range of experiences throughout their time in school which will challenge and excite, for we firmly believe that life is not simply about the number of breaths we take but also about the moments that take your breath away!
We have nurser support onsite. Access on site to physiotherapy and Speech therapy support through the Local Authority provision.
We arrange to visit pupils in their setting before they start school. parents parents and carers are to visit and give full madical details. Transitions dates are agreed. Liaison and transition times to other establishments when they move on.
