Service Description

Service Description:
Ashgate Primary School is an outward looking, forward thinking school, striving for excellence in all it does. High quality pastoral care underpins a broad and relevant curriculum, with associated policies and practices preparing children for life in a fast changing, modern and culturally diverse Britain. Always ‘moving forward and aiming high’, Ashgate Primary School is a hub of excellence, serving the local and global community regardless of need or ability.
The school is a vibrant and exciting place to learn, catering for the pupils of Ashbourne Road (Derby) district. We are a co-educational primary school, ranging in pupil age from 4 – 11 years old. Our policies and practices are informed by Derby City Council and are ratified by our board of Governors. The governing body represents the Local Authority, local community, parents and staff.

Ashgate Primary School is a mainstream, fully inclusive school, where all classes are of mixed ability and teachers provide work that is suitably differentiated to match the ability of each group. This is achieved though the effective deployment of a wide range of staff, resources and materials.

If your child has Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND) the school follows the SEND Code of Practice 2015 to ensure that inclusion is achieved and progress is made. Parents will be made aware if their child is placed on the ‘Special Educational Needs Provision Map’ and will have the opportunity for an informal meeting with the class teacher and/or the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO), to discuss the type of provision that can be put in place.

Please read our Parents Guide to SEND and our SEND Provision Report for more information, which is available on our school website.
