We also offer 30 hours extended entitlement places- please contact us to discuss your requirements. We have two playgrounds, one of which is accessible by a ramp.

Transition sessions are arranged for entry into Nursery and Reception class.
We liaise and have good links with the local secondary school. At Asterdale Primary School we aim to meet all of the children’s individual care and development needs. We encourage parents/carers to be involved in their children’s learning and development through regular discussions and frequently offer suggestions for things to do at home. We provide a wide range of activities, both indoors and outdoors, to support the children’s learning and development.
We welcome visits from potential families to look at our learning environments and to discuss what options are available for your child.
Prior to your child starting in our Nursery we will arrange a visit where we aim to find out as much information about your child and their needs as we can. We aim to make the transition to nursery as smooth as we can and will try to tailor your child’s sessions according to their needs.
When your child is ready to move on to school we aim to ensure a smooth transition, sharing relevant information and your child’s learning journey with their new school if you are happy for us to do this.
If we feel that your child needs additional support we will observe them and discuss our observations and any concerns that we might have with you. We will adapt activities as necessary to meet their individual needs and will refer them to outside agencies, such as Speech and Language Therapy, if we feel that this is necessary. We have a designated SENCO within school that supports staff and families.
All of the activities that are available to the children are carefully planned by our experienced staff in order to extend the children’s learning and development. The staff will regularly discuss with you how your child has been and what activities they have been enjoying. We also operate an open door policy for any concerns and worries that parents/carers might have.
The staff will meet regularly with you to discuss your child’s progress, development and the next steps in their learning.
