About the service

Service Description:
A mainstream Infant and Nursery School with 270 children on roll in school from Reception to Year 2 and a 39 place nursery, providing universal and extended funding provision (15 and 30 hour places).
We are an open plan school with nine classrooms in the main school building and a separate nursery block.

We have a learning support/speech and language area, a sensory room and another small room available for one-to-one/small group work.
The main school building is built at differing heights, however, there is a lift and steps with single hand rails leading to the classrooms and hall. The nursery unit, including a single separate EYFS classroom, is on one level.

Outside we have two main playgrounds, a smaller playground for Early Years and a nursery play area. We also have a grassed area with trim trail equipment and a dedicated Forest School area.

We liaise with other schools and childcare providers, including local nurseries, for children who transferring into school and implement a transition plan for admissions as required. We also work closely with Oakwood Junior School to support transition between infant and junior school.

On entry to the school each child’s development is assessed to inform their teacher/keyworker of their individual aptitudes, abilities and progress. This helps the school to design appropriate differentiated learning programmes.

For pupils with identified with special educational needs/disabilities, the SENCO/Class Teacher/Additional Needs Teaching Assistant will identify the requirement for support within the classroom, assess needs, ensure ongoing observation and assessment and provide regular feedback and involve parents in a joint home-school learning approach.
