About the service
Service Description:The service supports children birth to five years who have a disability.
Support can be offered with:
• Post diagnosis support and information
• Accessing appropriate disability services and benefits
• Specialist advice regarding health needs related to the child’s disability eg sensory issues, learning daily living skills, behaviour management, sleep and toilet training
• Specialist resources to support daily living activities eg dental health, going out, and attending appointments
• Provision of specialist resources to support and enhance understanding eg visual routines, first and then charts, visual timers, social stories
• Desensitisation programmes eg going to the hairdressers, having nails cut
We work with the child and parent on the related health need identified and will discharge once the piece of work has been completed. If support is till required post age five, we will transfer to the appropriate service.
