About the service

Service Description:
La Petite Academy has been established since October 1995 and is a small friendly nursery serving the local community. It is registered in total for 58 children, which includes a separate, small cosy baby unit registered for only 12 babies under 24 months. The baby unit has been specially modified to cater for the needs of the babies.

The main nursery is registered for children from 2 - 5 years and operates a before and after school club on the premises with its own separate facilities for age group 5 - 11 years. A nursery nurse escorts children collected from Ridgeway and Gayton and St Georges via a safe path with no traffic, back to the nursery.

Full Day/Week Sessions: 7.30am – 18.00pm. Morning Session: 7.30am – 13.15pm. Afternoon Session: 13.15pm – 18.00pm. A Holiday Club, before and after school sessions are also available. Before School: 7.30am – 9.00am. After School: 15.30pm – 18.00pm.

There is a total of 17 staff, the Assistant Manager has Qualified Teacher status as of September 1999 having completed a BA Hons in Batchelor of Education, 2 members of staff also hold Level 5 Chartered Management qualifications. All staff are qualified or working towards a qualification in Education and Childcare and hold a first aid certificate and Basic Hygiene certificate. All staff are regularly sent on training courses to ensure they are up to date with Safeguarding and Government initiatives. La Petite Academy receives nursery education grant funding. The nursery achieved the Derby City Council Quality Assurance Scheme in March 2008.

There is a nursery cook who cooks fresh food every day. Healthy snacks and nutritious menus are served. We regularly hold special days such as Mexico Day, Chinese New Year, May Day and Peter Pan Day to name a few. The nursery organises parents'''' evenings for each age group twice a year but also has an open door policy for parents. The Managers of the setting work in the nursery, with a hands on approach.

Closed all Bank Holidays. Closed at 4:00pm on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. Please contact the nursery to discuss your childcare needs further or for more information.
