About the service

Service Description:
Opportunities for 16-18 year olds

CT Skills provide training to 16-18 year olds to build their skills and find an Apprenticeship or employment in the Accounting or Early Years Sector. The combined work place and classroom learning ensures young people access the qualifications they need to understand their chosen sector whilst getting real life work place experience.

We have access to funding to pay bus fares to our City Centre Training Centre or work placement. At the end of the placement, young people will either have an interview with their workplace host or another employer. CT Skills will support them to prepare for this interview and any further progression to an Apprenticeship.

Through our partner Grace Leyland Education we provide Hairdressing and Barbering Traineeships. These are an opportunity to explore hairdressing and barbering within a Derby City Centre salon before choosing a specialism either in hairdressing or barbering in the Apprenticeship.

For adults 19+

For adults, we provide short training programmes designed to give qualifications and boost confidence to seek employment. Our experienced sector tutors will work with you to complete a sector specific qualification whilst supporting you to look and apply for work. Sectors we offer training in include:

• Construction including the CSCS card and CITB Health and Safety unit
• Health and Social Care up to level 2 covering the Care Induction Standards
• Business Administration (Level 1)
• Maths and English Functional Skills up to Level 2

The training lasts for 6-8 weeks and is less than 16 hours per week so JSA, ESA and Income Support claims are not affected. Learners complete CV writing, letter writing and interview techniques. All learners will be invited to any upcoming assessment days we have with local recruiting employers to interview.

To book an appointment to discuss any of our training opportunities please contact our Course Enquiries Team on 01332 332 401.
